It’s been a fun week.
Two dc cardioversions (yay, Ontario Hydro!), one young with no history, one old with lots of history and a VERY recent admission to CCU (hey, guys, aren’t you supposed to FIX them before you send them home?). Plus one poor soul who got adenosine… people will do anything to avoid a second dose of that stuff. You know that hot-gee-I-don’t-feel-great-gonna-puke-or-pass-out feeling you sometimes get when you stand up too quick? Multiply that by 1000 and connect yourself to a cardiac monitor that shows flatline while everybody holds their breath for a couple of seconds.
But everybody got to go home happy.
Two hyponatremias, wildly different presentations and pathologies.
Two broken wrists, fortunately on two different people. Is that a camera? If you really want a pink cast you’ll have to paint it, sorry. Finger traps are COOL. Especially because they work. Al, you rock.
Hallucinations. Diarrhea. What is this thing in my ear? He’s pooing GREEN, doc, and I’m worried. I’m pregnant and I can’t stop throwing up. I can’t stop throwing up and no, doc, I couldn’t possibly be pregnant (surprise!).
Don’t you wish you had my job?
